Before you hire an interior designer in Bangalore, ask about twelve things: what the quote includes and leaves out, which board and finish grades are named, how long the warranty runs and what it covers, how payments are staged, the design and execution timeline, who runs your site, and whether you can see completed homes. Clear, written answers to these protect your budget and your move-in date far more than a discount does. And under each one, you’ll see exactly what happens when you work with Skyline Spaces.

Why the First Meeting Matters

Most interior problems, such as budgets that keep growing, work that runs months late, or cabinets that swell after the first monsoon, go back to something nobody agreed in writing at the start. A designer who answers the questions below clearly, and is happy to put those answers on paper, is a safer choice than one who simply offers a lower number.

If you are still deciding what kind of designer suits your project, start with our guide on how to choose an interior designer in Bangalore. This post is the checklist to take into the meeting once you have a shortlist, with a look at what happens at Skyline Spaces under each question, so you can compare.

Questions About the Quote

1.Is the quote itemised, room by room?

A single lump sum makes it impossible to compare designers fairly, and easy for parts of the work to fall outside the price later. Ask for every room to be listed with its units, sizes, board, shutter finish and hardware.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

You get a room-by-room quote that lists every finish, hardware brand and material, so you know exactly what you are paying for before you commit. We walk you through the designs at your home or on a video call, and nothing is signed off until you are completely happy with it.

2.What is not included?

Ask for a written list of what is and is not in the price. A quote that says everything is included but has no list is hard to hold anyone to. GST is charged at 18% on most interior contracts, so check whether it is included.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

Nothing is left vague. Each package includes what is listed for it, such as a basic false ceiling in Skyline Essentials. Anything beyond that, like additional false ceiling, electrical, slab fixing or plumbing work, is shown as an optional item, so you decide what goes in. Beds, cots, dining furniture and civil work can be added on request, and home decor is left to your own taste. Our prices exclude 18% GST. As a guide, a complete 2BHK in Skyline Essentials typically costs ₹5 to 7 lakhs.

Our 2BHK cost guide and 3BHK cost guide break the cost down room by room.

Questions About Materials

3.Which board will you use, and where?

Bangalore's humidity is hard on low-grade boards, especially in kitchens and anything near water. The board grade for each area should be written into the quote. Our plywood vs MDF vs HDHMR guide explains the differences.

4.Which brands and shutter finishes are in the price?

Ask for brand names for the board and hardware such as hinges and drawer channels. The shutter finish changes the cost a lot: laminate costs about ₹1,250 to ₹1,750 per sq ft, acrylic about ₹1,750 to ₹2,300, and PU, Duco or lacquered glass about ₹1,850 to ₹2,500 per sq ft. See our laminate vs acrylic vs Duco comparison.

Your kitchen and wet areas are built with BWP and BWR board, chosen to stand up to Bangalore's humidity, and fitted with Hettich and Hafele hardware. Both are named in your quote, so what you approve is exactly what gets installed in your home.

Questions About the Warranty

5.How long is the warranty, and who do I call after handover?

Ask for the number of years in writing, and who you contact if something goes wrong after handover. A verbal promise is not a warranty.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

Every home we deliver is covered by a 10-year warranty, including our woodwork-only Skyline Edge package. And after handover you never have to chase a vendor: you call us directly, the same team that built your home.

Questions About Payments

6.How are payments staged?

Ask what is due upfront and what each later payment is tied to. Payments linked to clear milestones keep what you have paid in line with the work done.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

You start with a ₹50,000 booking before design, and every rupee of it is adjusted in your final quote. After that, you pay as your home takes shape: 50% when we order your materials, 40% when they arrive at your site, and the final 10% only once the work is complete.

Questions About the Timeline

7.How long will design and execution take?

Ask for both stages separately. As a guide, design usually takes 3 to 5 weeks. Once it is signed off, execution takes about 45 working days for a 2BHK, 60 to 75 working days for a 3BHK and 90+ working days for a villa. A modular kitchen and wardrobes on their own typically take 20 to 30 days. If you have a fixed move-in date, keep a buffer of 10 to 12 working days. Our interior design timeline guide goes week by week.

8.Is the schedule part of the agreement?

Ask whether the scope, schedule and payment terms are written down and signed before work begins, and how you will be told if anything changes.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

Before any work begins, the scope, schedule and payment terms are written down and signed off with you. You start the project knowing exactly what will happen, and when.

Questions About Your Site

9.Who is my point of contact, and how will I get updates?

Ask who manages the work day to day and who you call with a question. Also ask how often you will get updates while the work is underway.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

One dedicated project manager looks after your home from start to finish. You get regular updates and photos straight from site, so you can watch your home take shape even when you can't be there.

10.Does the same team design and build?

Some designers only design, which leaves you to coordinate the carpenter, electrician and painter yourself. When each of them owns only their piece, the gaps between them become your problem. A turnkey interior design team handles design and execution under one contract.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

Yes. Our own in-house team designs and builds your home, so the people who planned it are the people who deliver it, with no gaps between separate vendors.

Questions About Past Work

11.Can I see completed homes, ideally in my building or area?

Renders show what a designer can draw. Completed homes show what they can build. Ask for photos or walkthrough videos of finished projects, and if possible one in your own apartment community or nearby.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

Start with the proof. Our projects by community page shows the Bangalore buildings we have worked in, with walkthrough videos of finished homes. Once you have booked, we can also arrange a visit to a completed home, so you can see and feel the finish for yourself.

Questions About Changes

12.How are changes handled after sign-off?

Adding work once the project is underway is the most common reason budgets overrun. Ask how a change is priced, who approves it, and whether it is confirmed before the work is done.

Here’s what happens at Skyline Spaces

Plans change, and we understand that. Every change is looked at on its merits. If it is very different from the agreed scope, we check what is possible and how much work it involves, keeping what is already built in mind, and agree it with you and our founder before anything is done. Changes are charged extra, and the cost is agreed with you first.

Quick Answers

What should I ask an interior designer before hiring them in Bangalore?

Ask whether the quote is itemised room by room, what is not included, which board grades and brands are named, how long the warranty runs and what it covers, how payments are staged, how long design and execution will take, who your single point of contact on site is, and whether you can see completed homes. Get the answers in writing before you sign.

What is usually not included in an interior design quote?

It varies by designer, so ask for a written list. At Skyline Spaces nothing is left vague: each package includes what is listed for it, such as a basic false ceiling in Skyline Essentials, and anything beyond that, like additional false ceiling, electrical, slab fixing or plumbing work, is shown as an optional item. Beds, cots, dining furniture and civil work are added on request, and home decor is not included. Prices exclude 18% GST.

How long should an interior design warranty be?

Ask for the number of years in writing, not as a verbal promise, and who you call after handover. At Skyline Spaces every project carries a 10-year warranty, including the Skyline Edge woodwork-only package, and after handover you contact us directly.

How long does interior work take for a 2BHK in Bangalore?

Design usually takes 3 to 5 weeks. Execution for a 2BHK takes about 45 working days once the design is signed off, and 60 to 75 working days for a 3BHK. If you only need the modular kitchen and wardrobes, that work typically takes 20 to 30 days.

Should I pay an interior designer the full amount upfront?

No. Payments should be staged against clear milestones so that what you have paid stays in line with the work done. At Skyline Spaces you pay a ₹50,000 booking amount before design, which is adjusted in the final quote, then 50% for material procurement, 40% when materials are dispatched to site and the final 10% on completion.
